Samsung introduces next-gen Galaxy Watch features with the new Samsung Health app update
Samsung Health Just Got a Major Glow-Up: Here’s What’s New
Samsung is officially shaking things up with a massive update to the Samsung Health app. It isn’t just a fresh coat of paint; it’s a full UI overhaul designed to work hand-in-hand with the upcoming Galaxy Watch lineup. If you’ve been looking for a more intuitive way to manage your wellness, this might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
The first thing you’ll notice is the streamlined layout. Samsung has condensed the experience into five core pillars: Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Vitals. The new Home screen is much more interactive, putting your Energy Score and daily wellness tips front and center so you don’t have to dig through menus to see how your day is shaping up.

While the design is sleek, the real magic lies in the new data points. Samsung is introducing a suite of features including Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, and Fitness Index. These are set to debut on the next generation of Galaxy Watches, offering a deeper look into what’s happening under the hood.
A Smarter Way to Track Your Body
The new Vitals feature is particularly interesting. Instead of just dumping raw data on you, it analyzes five key overnight signals—heart rate, HRV, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen—against your personal baseline. The best part? It only pings you when it detects a meaningful deviation. It’s less about noise and more about knowing if you’re actually getting sick or just need an extra hour of sleep.

Samsung has also evolved its “Vascular Load” metric into a comprehensive Heart Health Score. By combining your body composition with stress, sleep, and activity levels, it gives you a singular, easy-to-understand metric for your cardiovascular well-being. It’s a great way to see how those late-night snacks or missed gym sessions actually impact your heart over time.
Pushing Your Limits Without the Burnout
For the fitness junkies, the Daily Cardio Load and Fitness Index features are game-changers. Cardio Load tracks the strain on your heart to help you find the sweet spot between training hard and recovering properly. Meanwhile, the Fitness Index compares your VO2 Max and heart rate data against people in your age group, helping you identify exactly where you’re crushing it and where you might need to step things up.

The update also touches on nutrition and safety. The Antioxidant Index and AGEs index offer a long-term look at how your diet and lifestyle choices are affecting your biology. There’s even a new Hearing Health feature that uses your Galaxy Watch to monitor ambient noise, warning you if the environment is getting loud enough to cause permanent damage.
When Can You Get It?
Samsung confirmed that the app update begins rolling out on June 8. However, there’s a small catch: while the app is updating now, these high-end tracking features are reserved for the next generation of hardware. All signs point to a major launch event around July 22, where we expect to see the Galaxy Watch9, Watch9 Classic, and the highly anticipated Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 alongside the latest foldables.
It looks like Samsung is making a serious play to own the proactive health space, moving beyond simple step counting and into true, actionable intelligence.
