Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro in for review

Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro First Look: A Refined Step Forward

Huawei’s Watch Fit 5 Pro has officially hit the global market, arriving with a £250 price tag and a design that feels more mature than ever. Available in a trio of colors—Orange, White, and Black—it’s a device that aims to bridge the gap between a lightweight fitness tracker and a premium smartwatch.

What’s in the Box?

Cracking open the packaging, you’re greeted by the watch itself, which in our case came paired with a vibrant, tactile orange fabric strap. You also get the standard wireless charging puck. It’s reliable, though it’s a bit disappointing to see Huawei sticking with a USB-A connection on the cable end in 2024.

Design and Build Quality

While previous iterations were often compared to the Apple Watch, the Watch Fit 5 Pro is starting to carve out its own identity. The most striking change is the display glass. Huawei has moved away from the flat surface of the Fit 4 Pro in favor of a smooth 2.5D curve. Because it’s crafted from sapphire crystal, you get that high-end look without having to worry about every little scuff or scratch.

Interestingly, despite being slightly larger than the previous model to accommodate new tech, the weight remains identical. It’s a subtle engineering win that ensures the watch stays comfortable for 24/7 wear.

Materials That Matter

The finishes vary depending on which color you pick. The Orange model features a matte casing with a sophisticated golden undertone. If you opt for the White version, you benefit from a new wear-resistant coating. Huawei claims this tech boosts scratch resistance by 15% and massively improves surface hardness, which is a major plus for anyone with an active lifestyle.

Advanced Health Tracking

Huawei isn’t just focusing on looks; the internal sensors have seen a significant upgrade. Beyond the standard heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen), skin temperature, and stress monitoring, the Watch Fit 5 Pro introduces Arterial Stiffness detection. This works alongside the existing ECG and Atrial Fibrillation tracking to give a more comprehensive picture of cardiovascular health.

Sleep tracking hasn’t been ignored either. A new algorithm provides more accurate data, and the watch is now much better at detecting those quick afternoon naps that usually fly under the radar of lesser trackers.

Battery Life to Count On

The standout feature for many will be the battery. Huawei has packed a 471mAh high-silicon stacked battery into the frame—a 12% jump in capacity. This translates to a claimed 7 days of heavy use or up to 10 days for lighter users. For anyone tired of the daily charging ritual required by other flagships, these figures are very compelling.

We’re currently putting the sensors and battery claims to the test for our full review. Stay tuned to see how it performs in the real world.
