Weekly poll results: the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is like a diamond, brilliant but expensive

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra Dilemma: High Interest, Higher Prices

It’s no secret that everything is getting more expensive, but ‘Ultra-class’ smartphones are reaching price points that feel like a serious gut punch. Last week, we polled our readers about the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, and the feedback was clear: people love the tech, but the price tag is a massive hurdle.

The numbers don’t lie. About two-thirds of you showed genuine interest in the device, but there’s a catch—only half of those interested actually think they can afford it. Even though the Find X9 Ultra isn’t the most expensive phone on the market (some competitors like the vivo X300 Ultra are even pricier), its €1,700 entry point is causing plenty of hesitation.

To bridge the gap, potential buyers are hunting for any way to soften the blow. From aggressive trade-in bonuses to the Hasselblad Earth Explorer Kit freebies, people are looking for reasons to justify the splurge. While some have their eyes on competing Ultras, they remain a vocal minority compared to the crowd eyeing Oppo’s flagship.

The X9s Struggle: Overshadowed by a Mini Pro

Things look a bit different for the standard Oppo Find X9s. At the moment, interest is relatively lukewarm. While a price cut or stellar long-term reviews might move the needle later, it isn’t the standard model that’s stealing the spotlight.

Instead, many of you are looking longingly at the Find X9s Pro. This compact ‘mini flagship’ has managed to generate more buzz than its larger sibling. The irony? The X9s Pro is currently exclusive to the Chinese market, leaving global fans out in the cold. This regional restriction has pushed about a third of our voters to give up on the X9s series entirely and start looking at other brands.

What’s Next? The India Launch

If you’re waiting for official availability, the wait is almost over for some. Oppo has confirmed that both the Find X9 Ultra and the Find X9s will land in India on May 15. We are still waiting for the final word on local pricing, but for context:

  • Find X9: ₹75,000
  • Find X9 Pro: ₹110,000

Will the Ultra model find its footing in a market that is increasingly sensitive to price hikes? Only time and the final retail numbers will tell.
