Honor 600 and 600 Pro debut in China with bigger batteries
Honor 600 Series Hits China: Massive Battery Upgrades and a Surprising Twist
In a bit of a reverse-uno move, Honor has finally launched the Honor 600 and 600 Pro in its home market of China. Usually, we see these devices debut locally before heading out to the rest of the world, but this time, the global audience got the first look. However, the Chinese versions have arrived with some pretty significant hardware shifts that make them distinct from their international siblings.
If you’re someone who prioritizes longevity above all else, the Chinese variants are going to look very tempting. The most striking difference is the power cell. While global users get a respectable 7,000 mAh battery across the board, the Chinese Honor 600 packs a massive 8,600 mAh battery. Interestingly, the Honor 600 Pro in China settles for an 8,000 mAh unit—still a huge jump over the global model, even if it’s slightly smaller than its non-Pro counterpart.
The Performance Trade-off
It’s not all just bigger batteries, though. There is a notable change under the hood for the Pro model. While the global Honor 600 Pro is powered by the high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Chinese version opts for the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 chipset. It’s still a powerhouse, but it represents a different approach to performance and efficiency for the local market. Meanwhile, the standard Honor 600 retains the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, keeping it consistent with the global release.
Display, Cameras, and Charging
Beyond the battery and the Pro’s processor, much of the DNA remains the same. Both phones feature a vibrant 6.57-inch 120Hz OLED display that looks great whether you’re scrolling social media or catching up on shows. You also get snappy charging speeds: 80W wired charging for both, with the Pro models supporting 50W wireless charging for extra convenience.
The camera setup continues to be a major selling point. Both devices lead with a sharp 200MP main sensor and a 12MP ultrawide lens. If you opt for the Pro, you also get a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, making it a much more versatile tool for photography enthusiasts.
Pricing and Availability
Honor is currently running early-bird sales in China. Here is how the starting prices break down:
- Honor 600 (12GB/256GB): Starts at CNY 3,299 (approx. €420)
- Honor 600 Pro: Starts at CNY 3,899 (approx. €495)
While the global versions offer a more consistent chipset across regions, the Chinese models are clearly aimed at power users who want to go days without reaching for a charger. Whether the trade-off in the Pro’s processor is worth the extra battery life is a question for the enthusiasts, but it’s clear Honor is tailoring its hardware to specific market demands.
