The Gaming Poll Results Are In: Smartphones Dominate the Landscape

Last week, we threw a question your way: what is your primary device for gaming? Since we live and breathe all things mobile here, it wasn’t a shocker to see smartphones taking the top spot. However, looking at the rest of the leaderboard, there were a few curveballs we definitely didn’t see coming.

We honestly expected PC or consoles to lock down that second-place position, but tablets managed to edge them out. While many people view tablets as secondary devices for scrolling social media or catching up on Netflix, it turns out a lot of you are rocking tablets with enough horsepower to handle some serious gaming sessions. It seems the hardware gap is closing, and players are taking advantage of that extra screen real estate.

PCs claimed a solid third place, encompassing both desktop rigs and laptops. Based on the chatter in the comments, it sounds like laptops are currently the go-to choice for the PC crowd. While we are seeing a rise in handheld PC consoles, they haven’t quite reached the mass-market adoption levels of standard laptops just yet.

As for traditional consoles, they remain a staple, though our community definitely favors the PC ecosystem. There is a small but dedicated contingent using ARM-powered handhelds, while many others are repurposing older, low-power devices specifically as retro emulation machines.

Interestingly, game streaming services barely made a ripple in the data. VR gaming remains a bit of a niche hobby—we expected it to sit near the bottom, though it did manage to pull ahead of game streaming, which is a testament to the dedicated enthusiast crowd keeping virtual reality alive.

Thanks to everyone who weighed in! Did these results surprise you as much as they surprised us?
