Electric bikes can sometimes feel digital or twitchy, but the X47’s throttle response feels remarkably natural. Ultraviolette has packed in three distinct ride modes: Glide, Combat, and Ballistic. While Glide is perfect for chilling out and saving range, things get spicy the moment you toggle up. Ballistic mode is where the bike’s true character shines, offering a rush of torque that makes city overtakes effortless.

Getting past 60kmph and 80kmph happens in a heartbeat, leaving typical city traffic in the rearview mirror. If you’re heading out on the open road, the X47 doesn’t break a sweat. It pulls strongly up to 100kmph and can cruise comfortably at 120kmph. It’s got enough ‘legs’ to handle highway touring, making it more than just a city runabout.

Regenerative Braking and Efficiency

I found myself sticking to Combat and Ballistic modes for the sheer fun of it, only dropping into Glide when I was obsessed with range. To help manage that energy, there’s a 9-level regen system. Setting it to level four or five feels the most intuitive, allowing you to coast to a stop much like a traditional engine-braking sensation. At the maximum setting, you can almost manage ‘one-pedal’ riding, though you’ll need a good eye for judging stopping distances before you stop relying on the physical brakes entirely.

While the straight-line speed was expected, the handling was a genuine surprise. Despite carrying a heavy battery, the weight distribution feels spot-on. At low speeds, the X47 is nimble and easy to thread through traffic without feeling top-heavy.

When the roads open up and the corners arrive, the bike stays planted and predictable. Even with the block-pattern MRF tyres—which look more rugged than sporty—the grip levels are solid. The Reality Check: ABS and Braking

It’s not all sunshine, though. If there is one area that needs a software tweak, it’s the ABS calibration. While the actual braking power and lever feel are great, the ABS is a bit too jumpy. On bumpy sections of road, the system can get confused, causing the brake lever to go momentarily ‘dead’ as the electronics over-intervene. It’s a bit nerve-wracking when you’re trying to scrub off speed for a turn on typical Indian roads. It’s something we hope Ultraviolette addresses in a future update.

Where the X47 really wins is the ride quality. With 170mm of suspension travel, it’s built to take on the craters and speed breakers of the urban jungle. The setup is definitely on the firmer side, so you’ll feel the small undulations at slow speeds, but it pays off by keeping the bike stable when you’re pushing it harder. For a brand known for stiff, sporty setups, the X47 Crossover is a massive step forward in real-world usability.
