Three vivo X500 devices are coming
The vivo X500 Series is Coming: Here’s What the Latest Leaks Reveal
It hasn’t been that long since vivo shook up the market with the X300 series, but the tech world never really hits the pause button. If you were expecting an X400 lineup next, you might want to skip a number—literally. Thanks to a recent sighting in the GSM Association’s IMEI database, we now have confirmation that vivo is jumping straight to the X500 series.
Why Skip the X400?
For those scratching their heads over the naming convention, it’s likely a case of tetraphobia—a common practice in many East Asian cultures where the number four is avoided due to its phonetic similarity to the word for death. By skipping over the “4” series, vivo is moving full steam ahead into X500 territory, continuing the legacy of their high-end flagship line.
The Lineup: Meet the New Players
The IMEI listings highlight three distinct models currently in the pipeline, and there is one surprise entry that has caught everyone’s attention:
- vivo X500: The direct successor to the standard flagship.
- vivo X500 Pro: The beefed-up version for power users.
- vivo X500e: The wildcard entry that has industry insiders guessing.
While the standard and Pro models are expected, the “e” variant is a brand-new addition to the family. Since there was no X300e, it’s unclear if this will be a more affordable entry-point or perhaps a specialized version for specific regional markets. Either way, it adds an interesting layer to vivo’s 2024-2025 strategy.
Rumored Specs: Massive Batteries and Pro-Grade Cameras
If the early whispers are true, vivo isn’t holding back on hardware. The standard X500 is rumored to feature a relatively manageable 6.4-inch screen, while the X500 Pro leans into the “ultra-large” category with a 6.9-inch display. But the real excitement lies in the camera and power departments.
Current rumors suggest we’ll see a 50MP LOFIC main camera alongside a staggering 200MP periscope telephoto lens. To keep those high-performance sensors and large displays running, vivo is reportedly testing batteries with a capacity of 7,000+ mAh. If that holds up, these phones could easily become the new benchmarks for flagship endurance.
When Can We Expect the Launch?
The X300 family officially debuted last October. If history is any indication, we can expect the X500 series to land around the same window this year, or perhaps even a few weeks earlier. With the IMEI listings already surfacing, the manufacturing wheels are clearly in motion. We’ll be keeping a close eye on more leaks as the launch window approaches.
