These Android phones will soon receive AirDrop support in Quick Share

Breaking Down the Walls: More Android Phones are Getting AirDrop Support

We’ve all been there: you try to send a high-quality video from your Android phone to a friend’s iPhone, only for it to arrive as a pixelated mess via text. Fortunately, the era of difficult cross-platform sharing is ending. During The Android Show: I/O Edition, Google confirmed that its Quick Share interoperability with AirDrop is officially expanding to a whole new roster of devices from OnePlus, Oppo, and Honor.

The Expansion of Quick Share

This isn’t exactly brand-new tech, but the rollout has been strategic. Google first debuted this game-changing AirDrop compatibility with the Pixel 10 series last year. Since then, it’s been trickling down to older Pixel models, Samsung’s latest Galaxy S26 lineup, and high-end niche devices like the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and vivo X300 Ultra. Right now, if you’re rocking a Pixel 8a or an Oppo Find N6, you’re already in the loop.

Which Phones are Next in Line?

Google isn’t stopping with just the newest flagships. A massive wave of updates is on the horizon for several fan-favorite devices. If you own a Samsung, you’re in luck. Support is coming soon to:

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 & S24 series
  • Galaxy Z Fold7 & Z Flip7
  • Galaxy Z Fold6
  • The innovative Galaxy Z TriFold

But the love is being shared beyond the Samsung ecosystem. The update is also slated for the Oppo Find X8 series, the OnePlus 15, and Honor’s heavy hitters—the Magic V6 and Magic8 Pro. While we don’t have a specific calendar date for each device yet, the confirmation alone is a huge win for anyone tired of the ecosystem ‘green bubble’ drama.

Why This Matters for You

For years, the ‘walled garden’ was the biggest headache for mobile users. By allowing Quick Share to talk to AirDrop, Google is making it easier for everyone to share photos, documents, and videos without losing quality. It’s a move toward a more open mobile experience where the hardware you choose doesn’t limit who you can interact with. Keep an eye on your system updates—seamless sharing is likely just a patch away.
