Suzuki e-Access First Ride: Is This the Ultimate Urban Electric Commuter?

The shift toward electric mobility is no longer a trend—it’s the new reality. Suzuki is leaning into this transition with the e-Access, a scooter designed with a very specific goal: making the daily city grind as effortless as possible. We recently spent some time with it on the track to see if it lives up to the expectations of a modern urban rider.

Suzuki e-Access Profile View

Under the seat, the e-Access is powered by a 3.07kWh LFP battery paired with a 4.1kW electric motor. While 15Nm of torque might not sound like a lot on paper, it’s plenty for darting through traffic. With a top speed of 71kmph, it’s comfortably tuned for city streets rather than high-speed highways. What really matters for daily users is charging: you’re looking at about 6 hours and 42 minutes for a full top-up at home, though this can vary if the weather is particularly hot. If you’re in a hurry, the fast-charging option cuts that down to a much more manageable 2 hours and 12 minutes.

The Ride Experience: Consistency is Key

We took the e-Access for a spin on a go-kart track, which provided the perfect environment to test its agility. One of the standout features is how Suzuki handles battery depletion. Many e-scooters start to feel sluggish once the battery drops below 50%, but Suzuki claims—and our test confirmed—that the performance remains consistent until you’re under 10%. That peace of mind is a massive plus for commuters who might be cutting it close on their ride home.

The scooter comes with three distinct riding modes:

  • Eco Mode: Designed for those days when you’re prioritizing range over everything else.
  • Mode A: A balanced middle ground that adds a touch of regenerative braking.
  • Mode B: This was our personal favorite. It offers no regeneration, allowing the scooter to coast freely. On wider roads with less stop-and-go traffic, this mode feels incredibly natural, mimicking the flow of a traditional petrol scooter.

Handling and Ergonomics

Suzuki clearly took some notes from the Burgman Street when it comes to comfort. The seating triangle is well-engineered, keeping you upright and in control without feeling cramped. On the move, the e-Access feels remarkably light and nimble. It’s the kind of scooter that tips into corners with zero resistance, making it perfect for tight U-turns and filtered traffic.

As for the stopping power, the brakes are functional and reliable. They aren’t going to blow you away with aggressive bite, but they bring the scooter to a halt without any unnecessary drama. One thing we did notice was the rear suspension; it felt quite stiff when going over the rumbler strips Suzuki set up for the test. While it didn’t ruin the experience, it’s something we want to keep an eye on when we get the chance to test it on the less-than-perfect pavement of actual city streets.

The Suzuki e-Access feels like a focused, honest attempt at a practical electric scooter. It isn’t trying to be a spaceship; it’s trying to be a Suzuki—reliable, easy to ride, and built for the real world.
