Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra Confirmed: What to Expect from the New Moniker

Samsung’s Power Play: Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra Name Officially Confirmed

For a while there, Samsung’s naming strategy for its upcoming foldables was a bit of a moving target. We heard rumors of a ‘Fold8 Wide,’ some chatter about a standard Fold8, and plenty of speculation in between. But the smoke is finally clearing. Thanks to a recent database listing from the Bluetooth SIG, we can officially confirm that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the real deal.

This certification is the closest thing to a formal invitation before the actual launch. While the Bluetooth SIG database is usually light on hardware specs, it did reveal five specific model numbers: SC-56G, SCG39, SM-F976C, SM-F976Q, and SM-F976Z. This variety suggests Samsung is prepping for a wide international release, hitting various carriers and regions simultaneously.

What Makes the Ultra So ‘Ultra’?

If the rumors hold up, the Z Fold8 Ultra is shaping up to be a beast of a productivity tool. Here is what we are looking at for the premium model:

  • Battery Life: A beefy 5,000 mAh battery, a step up from previous generations.
  • Charging: Support for 45W wired fast charging to keep downtime to a minimum.
  • Form Factor: Despite the bigger battery, it’s incredibly thin—just 4.1mm when unfolded.
  • Weight: It manages to pack all that tech into a 215g frame, making it surprisingly manageable for its size.

The Standard Galaxy Z Fold8 (Formerly ‘Fold8 Wide’)

The Ultra isn’t the only star of the show. The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 is also getting some significant love. Formerly referred to in leaks as the ‘Wide’ model, this version will likely be the go-to for most users. It’s slightly lighter at 201g and features a 4,800 mAh battery. Photographers will appreciate the new 50MP primary camera, which reportedly includes native support for a high-detail 24MP shooting mode—a feature we’ve seen requested for years.

Goodbye, Crease?

One of the most exciting rumors surrounding both the Fold8 and the Fold8 Ultra involves the display. Word on the street is that Samsung has finally cracked the code on the hinge gap and screen crease. Early reports suggest the crease will be as minimal as what we’ve seen on the Oppo Find N6, which is currently the gold standard for foldable displays. If Samsung pulls this off, it removes one of the last major hurdles for foldable skeptics.

Mark Your Calendars

We won’t have to wait much longer to see these devices in the flesh. Current intel points toward a massive Samsung Unpacked event in London on July 22. We expect to see the Fold8 duo alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8 and perhaps a few other ecosystem surprises. Stay tuned—this summer is about to get a lot more interesting for tech fans.
