Oppo is rumored to be working on an A-series smartphone with a 10,000 mAh battery
Oppo Might Be Building a Battery Behemoth: What We Know So Far
If you’re tired of reaching for your charger by dinner time, Oppo might have a very big solution on the way. According to the latest whispers from the well-known leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the company is working on a new addition to its mid-range A-series that packs a staggering 10,000 mAh battery.
To put that in perspective, most modern flagships tap out at around 5,000 mAh. Doubling that capacity suggests a phone that could easily last three or even four days on a single charge, making it a potential dream for power users and travelers alike.
More Than Just a Massive Battery
It’s not just about raw power, though. The rumor suggests this upcoming device will feature a large, flat LTPS OLED display boasting a crisp “1.5K” resolution. Usually, when we see batteries this big, the rest of the specs take a back seat, but a 1.5K OLED panel indicates Oppo wants this to be a solid media consumption device as well.
The Mystery Under the Hood
While we don’t have a confirmed name for the processor yet, we do know it’s built on a 4nm process. Since this is an A-series phone, don’t expect top-tier flagship silicon. Tech enthusiasts are currently placing their bets on one of a few mid-range contenders:
- Snapdragon 7s Gen 4
- Snapdragon 6-series SoC
- MediaTek Dimensity 7400 or 7500
Price and Build Quality
To keep costs down and likely to offset the weight of that massive battery, the phone will reportedly sport a plastic body. It’s expected to launch with a starting price of around CNY 2,000, which translates to roughly $295 USD. If these specs hold up, Oppo might have the most compelling “battery-first” smartphone we’ve seen in years.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on further leaks as they emerge. For now, the prospect of a $300 phone that refuses to die is definitely something to get excited about.
