Nothing Pulls the Plug on CMF Phone 3 Pro: Here’s Why

If you were holding out for the next entry in the CMF lineup, you might want to adjust your expectations. While the rumor mill had us pinning the arrival of the CMF Phone 3 Pro for late summer, those plans have officially been scrapped.

Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis recently shared the news, confirming that we won’t see a new CMF smartphone in 2024. The reasoning is pretty straightforward: the volatile cost of memory components. As a budget-friendly brand, CMF operates on razor-thin margins. According to Evangelidis, the company simply couldn’t justify building a device that felt like a meaningful upgrade without breaking the CMF promise of affordability.

Basically, when memory prices spike, it’s the entry-level devices that get hit the hardest. Rather than releasing a phone that feels underwhelming or overpriced, Nothing has decided to hit the pause button.

What’s Next for the Brand?

Don’t worry—the brand isn’t going dormant. Evangelidis hinted that several new products are still in the pipeline for this year, including a few items in entirely new categories we haven’t seen from them before.

The biggest question now is what’s next for their flagship lineup. With the CMF Phone 3 Pro off the table, all eyes are shifting toward the main brand. A teaser for a mysterious new Nothing phone is already floating around, leaving everyone to wonder: are we getting a look at the Nothing Phone (4) sooner than expected? Only time will tell.
