Apple iPhone Ultra Revealed: Best Look Yet at the New Design via Leaked Dummy Unit

Is This the iPhone Fold? Our Best Look Yet at Apple’s First Foldable

We’ve been hearing whispers about a folding iPhone for years—variously dubbed the iPhone Fold or the iPhone Ultra. While we’ve previously seen leaked CAD schematics and case renders, a fresh set of images showing a physical dummy unit has just surfaced, giving us our most realistic look yet at Apple’s potential entry into the foldable market.

A Glimpse at the Design

These new photos, shared by well-known leaker Sonny Dickson, reveal the iPhone Ultra dummy unit in both its folded and unfolded states. The unit shown is finished in white, which Dickson suggests could be the primary color option at launch. While a minimalist white looks sleek, there’s a good chance Apple will also offer a more professional gray or black variant to round out the lineup.

Camera Layout and Form Factor

The design features some interesting departures from the current iPhone 15 aesthetic. Based on the images, the iPhone Ultra’s internal folding screen houses a selfie camera in the top-left corner. Around the back, Apple appears to be opting for a horizontal dual-camera arrangement. This horizontal camera island isn’t just for lenses; it also neatly integrates the LED flash and a microphone.

The Return of Touch ID?

Perhaps the most surprising details involve what’s missing. According to the current rumors and these physical mockups, the iPhone Ultra may skip the Action Button entirely. Even more polarizing is the claim that Apple will bypass Face ID in favor of Touch ID for biometric security. This would likely be integrated into the power button, a move similar to how the iPad Air and iPad Mini handle authentication.

Launch Timeline

While nothing is set in stone until Tim Cook takes the stage, expectations are mounting for a reveal alongside the iPhone 18 series later this year. If these leaks are accurate, the iPhone Ultra represents a massive shift in Apple’s hardware strategy, blending nostalgia with cutting-edge display technology.
