Motorola Edge (2026) for US and Canada unveiled with smaller 6.3″ display
Motorola’s Edge (2026) Is Here: Smaller, Brighter, and Full of Surprises
Motorola just threw us a curveball. While the mobile world seems obsessed with making screens larger every year, the brand-new Motorola Edge (2026) is actually shrinking. Moving away from the 6.6-inch and 6.7-inch footprints of its predecessors, this year’s model features a more pocketable 6.3-inch display. It’s a bold move that suggests Motorola is listening to fans who crave a high-end experience without the pocket-stretching dimensions.
A Screen That Defies Sunlight
The standout feature here is undoubtedly the 6.3-inch “Extreme OLED” panel. It’s sharp, thanks to a 1.5K resolution, and silky smooth with a 120Hz refresh rate. But the real head-turner is the brightness. Motorola claims this display can hit a staggering 5,200 nits of peak brightness. To put that in perspective, that is bright enough to remain perfectly legible even under the harshest direct sunlight.
Under the Hood: Efficiency Over Raw Power
While the screen is a massive win, the internal specs are a bit more of a mixed bag. The phone is powered by the Dimensity 7450, a modest step up from the previous generation’s 7400. You’ll get a slight 7% boost in AI performance, but it isn’t exactly a powerhouse for hardcore gaming. Curiously, Motorola has also dialled back the storage to 128GB (half of what the 2025 model offered) paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM.
On the software side, things are looking up. Motorola is promising three major Android OS updates, which is a solid commitment for their mid-range lineup. It also features Smart Connect, their clever utility for syncing files and apps across your devices seamlessly.
A Triple Threat Camera Setup
Motorola isn’t skimping on the photography front. The Edge (2026) boasts a triple-threat 50MP system:
- Main Sensor: A 50MP Lytia 710 with OIS for crisp 4K video.
- Ultra-Wide: A 50MP lens with a 122° field of view and Macro Vision for close-up shots.
- Selfie: A 50MP front-facing module for high-res portraits.
There is also a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS, carried over from last year, providing some much-needed versatility for long-distance shots.
Built to Survive the Elements
This phone is surprisingly rugged. It’s wrapped in Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings. This means it can handle a dunk in the pool and high-pressure water jets alike. Motorola even claims this model is twice as resistant to drops and scratches as the previous version.
Despite the smaller frame, they’ve managed to fit a 5,000mAh battery inside. With 60W TurboPower wired charging, you can get a full day’s worth of power in just 7 minutes. It also supports 15W wireless charging for those who prefer to ditch the cables.
The New Moto Buds 2
Launching alongside the phone are the Moto Buds 2. Priced at $100, these earbuds punch above their weight with dual drivers (11mm dynamic and 6mm micro planar), Hi-Res Audio certification, and Dolby Atmos support. They feature 55dB of active noise cancellation and an impressive 48 hours of total battery life with the case.
Pricing and Availability
The Motorola Edge (2026) hits shelves in the US and Canada on June 11 for $600 unlocked. You’ll be able to find it at Motorola.com and Best Buy, with carrier offers from AT&T, Cricket, and Xfinity Mobile arriving the same day. The Moto Buds 2 will follow shortly after, arriving on July 2 in a stylish Pantone Carbon finish.
