The guessing game is officially over. Xiaomi has finally confirmed the launch date for its highly anticipated Xiaomi 17T series, and we don’t have much longer to wait. On May 28th, the tech giant will pull back the curtain on what it describes as the “biggest T Series upgrade yet.”

Between the official teasers and the mountain of leaks we’ve seen, the 17T and 17T Pro are shaping up to be true powerhouse contenders in the mid-to-high-end market. Here is a breakdown of what makes these new devices worth the hype.

Power and Performance: The MediaTek Era

Xiaomi is doubling down on MediaTek’s latest silicon for this generation. Under the hood, the standard Xiaomi 17T is expected to run on the Dimensity 8500-Ultra. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17T Pro is poised to take things to the flagship level with the top-tier Dimensity 9500 SoC. If these specs hold up, we’re looking at some of the fastest performance benchmarks in their price bracket.

Stunning AMOLED Displays

Xiaomi isn’t cutting corners on the screens this year either. While both phones will feature beautiful AMOLED panels with FHD+ resolution, there are slight differences to cater to different preferences:

• Xiaomi 17T Pro: A massive 6.83-inch AMOLED display boasting a 144Hz refresh rate for ultra-smooth scrolling and gaming.
• Xiaomi 17T: A slightly more hand-friendly 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.

A Serious Camera Upgrade

Photography enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to. Both models will feature a triple-camera setup led by a 50MP main sensor. However, the Pro model gets the premium Light Fusion 950 sensor, while the standard 17T uses the Light Fusion 800. For zooming, both devices are rumored to share a 50MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, alongside a 12MP ultrawide lens for capturing more of the scene.

Battery Life That Actually Lasts

Perhaps the most impressive leak involves the battery capacity. Xiaomi is pushing the envelope by moving toward massive cells that should easily last two days of moderate use:

• Xiaomi 17T: 6,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging.
• Xiaomi 17T Pro: 7,000mAh battery featuring 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Price and Availability

While we have to wait for the May 28th event for official regional pricing, current rumors suggest the Xiaomi 17T (12/256GB) will start at approximately €749 ($878). The beefier Xiaomi 17T Pro (12/512GB) is expected to land at around €999 ($1,170).
