The new Tecno Pova 8 boasts an 8,000mAh battery, Alive Matrix Display on its back
Tecno Pova 8: A Massive Battery Meets a Quirky Dot-Matrix Twist
Tecno has never been shy about experimenting with bold designs. Following the ‘Nothing-esque’ vibes of the Pova 7, the new Tecno Pova 8 takes things a step further with the introduction of the Alive Matrix Display. Instead of just a light strip, Tecno has integrated a small dot-matrix screen into what looks like the third lens of the camera island. It’s a clever bit of tech flair for a phone that clearly wants to stand out from the crowd.
The Battery King is Here
If you’re tired of reaching for your charger by dinner time, the Pova 8 might be your new best friend. It features a colossal 8,000mAh battery, a significant jump from the 6,000mAh found in the previous model. According to TÜV SÜD testing, this powerhouse can easily coast through two full days on a single charge. Better yet, Tecno claims the battery is built to last, rated for over 2,000 cycles while maintaining 80% capacity—meaning you could potentially get six years of healthy use out of it.
When you eventually do run low, 45W fast charging gets you from 1% to 50% in about 35 minutes. It also supports 10W reverse charging to help out a friend in need. However, there is a catch for fans of the previous generation: the 30W wireless charging support has been dropped this time around.
Performance and Gaming Specs
The Pova 8 shifts gears to the Dimensity 7100 chipset. While it’s a newer name, it’s a bit of a lateral move in terms of architecture, utilizing a 6nm process rather than the 4nm node found in the Pova 7’s Dimensity 7300. To keep things cool during intense sessions, Tecno packed in a massive 15,000mm² graphite sheet for heat dissipation.
Paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, the phone is optimized for competitive mobile gaming. Tecno promises a steady 90fps on popular titles like Honor of Kings and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, making it a solid contender for budget-conscious gamers.
Display and Cameras
The front of the device is dominated by a 6.76” IPS LCD featuring a snappy 144Hz refresh rate and 1080p+ resolution. It also includes ‘Wet & Oily Finger Touch Recognition 2.0,’ which is a lifesaver if you’re trying to use your phone while snacking or in humid conditions.
As for the cameras, don’t let the three circles on the back fool you. There is only one primary sensor—a 50MP Sony Lytia 600—which offers 2x in-sensor zoom. The second ‘lens’ is actually the aforementioned Alive Matrix Display, and the third is more for aesthetic balance. For selfies, you’ll find a standard 13MP module up front.
Pricing and Availability
The Tecno Pova 8 is launching with HiOS 16 (based on Android 16) and carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. It will be available in four distinct finishes: Arc White, Graphite Black, Helios Orange, and Echo Green.
The phone is currently available for pre-order on Flipkart, with sales officially kicking off on June 18. Pricing starts at ₹30,000 for the 6/128GB variant, while the 8/128GB model is positioned at ₹32,000.
