With Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event just around the corner on July 22, the hype is officially hitting a fever pitch. While the rumor mill has been spinning for weeks about new folding phones, the spotlight is also shifting toward the next generation of wrist-worn tech: the Galaxy Watch9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra2.

We have seen plenty of leaks regarding fresh designs and fancy straps, but a recent report from WinFuture gives us a look at what is actually happening under the hood. If these hardware upgrades hold true, they might just explain the rumored price bumps coming to this year’s lineup.

A Leap in Performance and Efficiency

The biggest headline is the shift in silicon. Samsung appears to be moving away from its own Exynos chips, opting instead for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite SoCs built on a 3nm process. This is a big deal—moving to a 3nm architecture usually means a significant jump in both raw performance and power efficiency, which is exactly what a high-end smartwatch needs.

Alongside these new chips, you can expect the devices to pack 2GB of RAM, with internal storage options sitting at either 32GB or 64GB, depending on your chosen model.

Battery Life: The Ultra Gets a Serious Boost

Samsung isn’t ignoring the most critical aspect of any wearable: battery life. While the Galaxy Watch9 40mm sticks with the reliable 325 mAh battery found in its predecessor, the 44mm version gets a slight bump to 445 mAh.

The real star, however, is the Ultra2. Samsung is taking the 590 mAh battery from the original Galaxy Watch Ultra and supercharging it to a massive 800 mAh. For power users, this represents a major practical upgrade that should keep the watch running longer between charges, even with the performance gains from the new Snapdragon chip.

We are only a few days away from seeing these devices in person, but it is already looking like the Watch9 and Ultra2 will be far more than just a minor aesthetic refresh.
