Samsung Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra 2 Charging Speeds Confirmed via 3C Certification
Samsung’s Next-Gen Galaxy Watches Are Starting to Break Cover
The countdown to Samsung’s next big reveal is officially on. While most eyes are glued to the rumors surrounding the upcoming foldable lineup, the wearable side of the ecosystem is starting to generate its own heat. We’re expecting to see the new Galaxy Watch series take center stage around July 22 in London, and thanks to some fresh regulatory filings, we’re getting our first real glimpse at what’s happening under the hood.
The 3C Certification Reveal
Two new smartwatches—carrying the model codes SM-L3550 and SM-L7150—just popped up in the 3C certification database. For those tracking the leaks, SM-L3550 is widely believed to be the standard Galaxy Watch 9, while SM-L7150 is the likely successor to the rugged flagship, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
However, there’s a bit of a “good news, bad news” situation regarding the hardware. The filings show that both devices are sticking with 10W charging. If that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the exact same speed we saw on the previous generation. While 10W isn’t exactly slow, many power users were holding out hope for a faster top-up time to compete with some of the more aggressive charging speeds seen in the wider wearable market.
Efficiency Over Speed?
While the charging wattage hasn’t moved the needle, that doesn’t mean the experience won’t improve. The hope now shifts toward battery endurance. If Samsung has optimized the new chipsets or increased the actual battery capacity, the 10W charging might feel more manageable if the watch lasts significantly longer between visits to the charger.
We’re also keeping our ears to the ground for a potential Galaxy Watch 9 Classic. While it hasn’t appeared in this specific batch of certifications yet, it’s a safe bet that it will mirror the charging specs of its siblings if and when it makes an appearance next month.
Health Tech and Beyond
Samsung isn’t just focusing on hardware tweaks. The company recently confirmed that a suite of sophisticated health features is coming via a massive update to the Samsung Health app. From more detailed sleep insights to advanced fitness tracking metrics, the software side of these watches is shaping up to be the real star of the show.
As we get closer to the July event, expect the leak pipe to stay open. For now, it looks like Samsung is refining a winning formula rather than reinventing the wheel—though we’ll have to wait for the official hands-on to see if those refinements are enough to keep them at the top of the smartwatch mountain.
