Oppo Reno16 F and Reno16 FS unveiled: 50MP ultrawide selfie camera and AI Snap Key
Oppo Expands the Reno16 Family: Meet the New Reno16 F and FS
Following last month’s debut of the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro in China, Oppo is officially bringing these devices to the global stage. But that’s not all—the lineup is growing. Oppo just dropped the curtain on the new Reno16 F and Reno16 FS, and they bring some intriguing hardware to the table. Let’s break down what these new models have to offer.
Getting to Know the Oppo Reno16 F
The Reno16 F is built around a vibrant 6.57-inch 120Hz AMOLED display. With 10-bit color depth and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits, it’s designed to look crisp and fluid. You’ll also find an optical fingerprint sensor tucked under the screen for quick, secure access, along with a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.
A standout design choice is the “3D Pop Planet” aesthetic on the back, though it is currently exclusive to the Pop White variant. The rear camera setup is housed in a distinct squircle island, featuring a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 50MP 3.5x telephoto lens with OIS, and an 8MP ultrawide shooter equipped with autofocus.
For the content creators out there, the front-facing camera is particularly impressive. It’s a 50MP ultrawide sensor with autofocus and a 100° field of view, capable of 4K video recording. Oppo also introduced a handy “4K Auto Straighten Video” feature, which uses smart stabilization to keep your horizon level, correcting tilts up to 5° as you film.
Performance and Battery Life
Under the hood, the Reno16 F runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity Energy 7300 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It launches with Android 16-based ColorOS 16 right out of the box.
When it comes to longevity, the phone packs a massive 7,000 mAh battery. In most markets, you’ll get zippy 80W charging, though it’s worth noting that European models will be capped at 45W. Rounding out the feature list is the new AI Snap Key, “Splash Touch” screen tech, and a rugged build that boasts IP66, IP68, and IP69/69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
The Reno16 F will hit shelves in three striking colors: Pop White, Twilight Violet, and Dream Purple.
Diving into the Reno16 FS
So, where does the Reno16 FS fit in? Essentially, it’s a sibling to the German-spec Reno16 F, with the primary difference being storage capacity. While the standard Reno16 F offers 256GB, the FS model bumps that up to 512GB.
There is a slight compromise on the battery front for the German market, as the Reno16 F and FS variants sold there feature a 6,500 mAh battery with 45W charging. Pricing is set at €549 for the 8GB/256GB Reno16 F, while the 8GB/512GB Reno16 FS will run you €649. Both are currently available for pre-order through the official Oppo website.
