Lenovo Legion Y70 debuts with 8,000mAh battery, SD 8 Gen 5 and 144Hz screen

Lenovo’s Big Comeback: The Legion Y70 (2026) Is Here with a Massive 8,000mAh Battery

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen a smartphone sporting the Lenovo badge. In fact, you’d have to look back to 2022’s Y90 to find the last time the brand launched a phone under its own name. But the dry spell is officially over. Lenovo is diving back into the mobile arena with the Legion Y70 (2026), and they aren’t coming back quietly.

The Legion Y70 is a gaming-first powerhouse that focuses on the two things mobile gamers care about most: raw performance and a battery that refuses to die.

Performance That Stays Cool

Under the hood, Lenovo has packed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (the standard version, not the Elite variant). While it might not be the “Elite” chip, it’s still a beast, especially when paired with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM pushing speeds of up to 9,600Mbps. For storage, you’re looking at UFS 4.1 tech starting at 256GB, ensuring your games load almost instantly.

We all know that gaming phones can turn into pocket-sized heaters. To combat this, Lenovo integrated a 5,500mm² vapor chamber. It’s designed to drop the CPU core temperature by as much as 7°C, which should help prevent throttling during those intense late-night matches.

A Battery That Redefines Longevity

The real showstopper here is the 8,000mAh battery. In an era where 5,000mAh is considered the standard, Lenovo is nearly doubling the capacity. They claim this power pack will easily last through two days of regular use.

What’s even more impressive is the longevity. Lenovo says the battery will stay healthy for up to 7 years or 1,200 charge cycles. When you do need to plug in, the 90W fast charging gets you back in the game quickly. It also features bypass charging, which lets the phone run directly off the power cord—saving the battery from unnecessary heat while you’re gaming.

Silky Smooth Visuals

The front of the device features a 6.8-inch OLED display. It’s a 144Hz panel, which is exactly what you want for high-refresh-rate gaming. It also hits a staggering 7,000 nits of peak brightness, meaning outdoor visibility will never be an issue. Add in Dolby Vision support, and you’ve got a screen that’s just as good for Netflix binges as it is for competitive gaming.

Camera and Availability

While the focus is on gaming, the cameras aren’t an afterthought. You get a 50MP primary wide-angle lens (f/1.8) and an 8MP ultrawide that doubles as a macro lens for shots as close as 2.5cm. For selfies and streaming, there’s a 32MP front-facing camera.

The Lenovo Legion Y70 is currently available for pre-order in China, starting at CNY 3,099 (roughly $450 / €390). It comes in two sleek colorways: Ice Soul White and Carbon Black. With configurations ranging from 12/256GB all the way up to a beefy 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model, there’s a version for every type of power user.

It’s exciting to see Lenovo back in the mix. If the Legion Y70 performs as well as the spec sheet suggests, the competition in the gaming phone market just got a whole lot tougher.
