Huawei Brings the Pura 90s Series Global: Everything You Need to Know

Earlier this year, Huawei made waves in China with the launch of the Pura 90 Pro and Pro Max. Now, the company is officially expanding its horizons by bringing a new “90s” duo to the global stage. While they carry familiar hardware DNA, these models are tailored to bridge the gap for international users—and yes, they finally bring 5G support to the table.

The Pro Max: A Photography Powerhouse

The star of the show is undeniably the Huawei Pura 90s Pro Max. It introduces a massive 200MP RYYB sensor, a signature move from Huawei that leans into yellow sub-pixels for better low-light performance. This isn’t just about megapixels; it’s a 1/1.28” sensor paired with an f/2.6 lens offering 4x optical zoom. While it ditches the complex switchable lenses of the previous Pura 80 Ultra, it compensates with impressive tech: CIPA 7.0 stabilization and a clever 20x telephoto video mode powered by real-time RAW processing.

The main camera is equally interesting, featuring a 50MP LOFIC sensor designed for superior dynamic range. With an adjustable aperture (f/1.4 to f/4.0) and a robust 40MP ultra-wide companion, it’s a dream setup for mobile photography enthusiasts.

The Pura 90s Pro: Compact but Capable

If you prefer something slightly more manageable, the Huawei Pura 90s Pro sports a 6.6” display compared to the Max’s 6.9” screen. While it uses a standard 50MP sensor for its 4x telephoto lens (rather than the 200MP beast), it still offers OIS and a dedicated macro mode. Both models feature the same 50MP RYYB main sensor, though only the Max includes that sophisticated LOFIC technology.

Refined Design and Performance

Under the hood, both devices run on the new Kirin 9030S chipset. Huawei has clearly focused on durability this year, opting for a diamond-like carbon coating and silicon nitride ceramic materials, which they claim make these phones significantly more resistant to drops and scratches. The screens are also treated to reduce reflections by 70%, which is a welcome touch for outdoor use.
