Back in August of last year, during the introduction of the Pixel 10 family, Google also teased an upcoming smart speaker. Then, it announced it as the Google Home Speaker in October. Now it’s finally becoming available, ten months after the first teaser and eight months after the unveiling.

The Google Home Speaker will be out on June 25 for $99.99, in four colors: Jade, Berry, Porcelain, and Hazel. Jade and Berry are “US-exclusive colors” for some reason. You can already pre-order one from the Google Store.

The Google Home Speaker is powered by an unspecified quad-core CPU using Cortex-A55 cores, paired with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage. It has a 58mm full-range driver which delivers “omni-directional sound”, three far-field mics, and a hardware mic mute switch. It connects via Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 and can also act as a Thread 1.3 border router. You can pair up to two speakers with a Google TV Streamer “to turn your living room into a mini home theater with spatial surround sound”, Google says.

Of course, the Home Speaker comes with Gemini built-in, featuring ten new natural sounding voices. There’s Gemini Live on offer too, which lets you have “natural, free-flowing chats”. You can also have Gemini describe current or recent activity captured on your Nest cameras, and ask it for a summary of what happened around the house while you were out.
