Living and driving in Pune usually means two things: navigating unpredictable traffic and keeping a sharp eye on rising fuel prices. After doing some serious homework on the Tata Punch iCNG, I decided to take the plunge. Its promised 26.99 km/kg ARAI mileage seemed like a dream for my daily commutes, so I headed to the local Tata showroom to see if it lived up to the hype.

Smooth Tech and Real-World Performance

The first thing that struck me during the test drive was the twin-cylinder iCNG setup. Unlike older CNG kits that feel clunky, this one switches between petrol and gas seamlessly—you barely notice it happening. It handles Pune’s notorious potholes with a nimbleness that’s surprising for a micro-SUV, and the cabin remains remarkably spacious.

  • Boot Space: While the cylinders are tucked neatly under the floor, you do lose some depth compared to the standard petrol version, but it’s still highly functional.

Is the Tata Punch CNG Worth It?

The Punch CNG hits the sweet spot for anyone looking for an eco-friendly, budget-conscious city driver. It’s not a speed demon, but it makes up for that with comfort, cooling efficiency (essential for Maharashtra’s heat), and incredible fuel economy.
