While it’s compact, the Google Home Speaker packs a surprising amount of tech. Inside, you’ll find a quad-core processor (Cortex-A55 architecture), 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. Audio is handled by a 58mm full-range driver designed to push out omni-directional sound, supported by three far-field microphones to ensure your commands are heard clearly. A physical mute switch is also included for those who prioritize privacy.

Connectivity is modern, featuring Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. It also doubles as a Thread 1.3 border router, making it a handy hub for your smart home ecosystem. Pro tip: if you’re looking to upgrade your entertainment setup, you can pair two of these speakers with a Google TV Streamer to create a spatial surround sound experience for your living room.

Gemini Takes Center Stage

The real star of the show is the integration of Gemini. Google has packed the speaker with ten new, natural-sounding voices, making the assistant feel less robotic and more conversational. You also get access to Gemini Live, which is designed for more fluid, back-and-forth interactions.

Perhaps most useful for Nest users, the speaker can now tap into your security camera feeds. You can ask Gemini for a summary of activity caught on your Nest cameras, allowing you to catch up on what happened at home while you were away without needing to scroll through hours of video footage.
