Google AI Plus Price Drop: Get Double the Cloud Storage for Less

Google Just Made Its AI Plus Plan a No-Brainer: Lower Prices and Double the Storage

Google is having quite a week. Hot on the heels of the news that its Gemini model will be the backbone for Apple’s revamped Siri, the search giant is making a massive play for the rest of us. If you’ve been on the fence about paying for AI features, Google just made the decision a whole lot easier by slashing the price of its base AI plan and doubling the perks.

More Space, Less Money

The Google AI Plus plan, which previously sat at $8 a month for 200GB of storage, has received a significant price cut. According to Vikas Kansal, the Product Lead for Google AI subscriptions, the monthly rate is dropping to just $5 (or your local equivalent).

But the price drop isn’t even the best part. Google is also doubling the cloud storage allotment. Instead of 200GB, subscribers now get 400GB of storage. This isn’t just for your AI chats, either; that space is shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos, effectively replacing the value proposition of older Google One tiers.

Global Pricing Snapshot

While prices vary slightly by region, the reduction is being felt globally. Here’s a quick look at what the new monthly rates look like in various markets:

  • USA: $5
  • Canada: CAD 7
  • UK: GBP 4.50
  • Europe: EUR 5
  • India: INR 400

What Do You Actually Get with Gemini?

Google has been aggressive about baking Gemini into the tools we use every day. If you’re a Plus subscriber, you aren’t just getting a chatbot; you’re getting a deeply integrated digital assistant. Here are a few of the standout features included in the subscription:

  • Gemini in Gmail: Imagine having a personal assistant that can summarize long email threads, draft professional replies, or find specific information buried in your inbox in seconds.
  • Daily Brief: A personalized summary to start your day, highlighting your most important tasks, news, and schedule updates.
  • Gemini Omni: Google’s latest push into multimodal AI, which includes advanced video generation capabilities.

By lowering the barrier to entry, Google is clearly looking to lock users into its ecosystem before the competition catches up. For anyone already paying for extra Google storage, the upgrade to AI Plus is now looking like a very tempting bargain.
