Xiaomi 17T Series Launch: Massive Battery Boost Headlines the New Lineup

Xiaomi’s 17T Series Lands in China with a Massive Battery Surprise

Just a month after their global debut, the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro have officially launched in China. While regional releases often follow a predictable script, Xiaomi decided to give the standard 17T a serious competitive edge: a massive battery upgrade that puts it on par with its Pro sibling.

The 17T Gets a Major Power Boost

The biggest news here is the battery capacity. The Chinese variant of the Xiaomi 17T now sports the same 7,000mAh Silicon-Carbon (Si/C) battery found in the Pro model. If you’re keeping track, that’s a 500mAh increase over the global version. While the 67W charging cap remains the same, that extra capacity is a game-changer for power users who value multi-day endurance.

Beyond the battery bump, the Chinese 17T mirrors the specs we saw internationally. It features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset. For photography, it’s quite the contender with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope lens offering 5x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide sensor.

The 17T Pro: Performance Refined

The Xiaomi 17T Pro remains the powerhouse of the duo. It’s built around a slightly larger 6.83-inch AMOLED panel that bumps the refresh rate up to a buttery-smooth 144Hz. Under the hood, it packs the Dimensity 9500 SoC, and for the Chinese market, Xiaomi is offering an additional 16GB RAM configuration for those who need maximum multitasking headroom.

The Pro model also steps up the camera game with a larger 1/1.31″ main sensor and the ability to record in 8K resolution. It shares that same 7,000mAh battery, making the entire 17T series a powerhouse for longevity.

Pricing and Availability

The pricing for these units in China remains very competitive. Here is how the costs break down:

  • Xiaomi 17T (12/256GB): CNY 2,999 (approx. $443 / €385)
  • Xiaomi 17T (12/512GB): CNY 3,499 (approx. $517 / €450)
  • Xiaomi 17T Pro (12/256GB): CNY 3,999 (approx. $591 / €513)
  • Xiaomi 17T Pro (16/512GB): CNY 4,799 (approx. $709 / €616)

With these aggressive prices and the battery upgrade for the base model, Xiaomi is clearly aiming to dominate the premium mid-range segment in its home market. It remains to be seen if these hardware tweaks will eventually trickle down to other regions in future updates, but for now, the Chinese version of the 17T is officially the endurance king of the family.
