A photo story: I took the Find X9 Ultra to the UCL final in Budapest

Chasing Glory in Budapest: A Photo Story with the Oppo Find X9 Ultra

There is nothing quite like the electric atmosphere of a Champions League Final. This past weekend, I found myself in the heart of the action in beautiful Budapest for the biggest club match of the season: Paris Saint-Germain vs. Arsenal. Thanks to Oppo, a global partner of UEFA, I wasn’t just there to watch—I was there to document the experience using the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and the unique teleconverter from its Earth Explorer Kit.

While my colleagues have already handled the technical deep dives in our full review, I wanted to see how this setup performed in the wild. From the sun-drenched hills of Buda to the floodlights of the Puskas Arena, here is a look at the weekend through the lens of the X9 Ultra. All images are straight-from-the-camera JPEGs with no editing applied.

The Charm of the Hungarian Capital

Before the tension of the match took over, I spent some time playing tourist. My first stop was the Fisherman’s Bastion. Perched on a hilltop near Buda Castle, this UNESCO World Heritage site offers some of the most iconic panoramic views of the city. The Find X9 Ultra’s 70mm and 140mm focal lengths were perfect for picking out details across the Danube.

Next, I stepped inside St. Stephen’s Basilica. It’s the largest church in Budapest and arguably the most opulent. The dimly lit interior provided a real-world test for the camera’s low-light capabilities, forcing the sensor to balance high ISO with the intricate gold leaf and marble textures of the cathedral.

Football Legends and City Lights

Part of the pre-match buzz involved the UEFA Champions Festival. I managed to catch a 5v5 exhibition game featuring legends like Claude Makelele and Theo Walcott. Seeing these pros up close was a highlight, but the city itself kept calling me back. I spent sunset near the Liberty Bridge, capturing the Art Nouveau architecture and those famous bright yellow trams that give Budapest so much character.

As night fell, a cruise on the Danube provided the ultimate view of the Hungarian Parliament Building. Lit up against the dark sky, it’s a sight that never gets old.

Match Day: Puskas Arena

Then came the main event. At the Puskas Arena, the 300mm teleconverter really became the star of the show. It allowed me to get tight on the action from the stands in a way most smartphones simply can’t handle. The pre-game show by The Killers set the stage before PSG and Arsenal emerged to a wall of sound.

Arsenal struck early with a Kai Havertz goal in the 6th minute, sending the English fans into a frenzy. PSG fought back, and while the referees dismissed a potential penalty against Bukayo Saka for a handball, Ousmane Dembele eventually found the equalizer from the spot in the second half.

The game ultimately went to the drama of a penalty shootout. Despite a heroic save from Arsenal’s Raya, a missed final attempt by Gabriel meant the trophy stayed with the Parisians for another year.

It was a weekend of high-stakes football and stunning architecture. What do you think of the results from the Find X9 Ultra? Did the teleconverter do the Puskas Arena justice? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments!
