RedMagic 11S Pro in for review

RedMagic 11S Pro Hands-On: A Clean, Mean Gaming Machine

The RedMagic 11S Pro has officially landed, and at first glance, it feels like a familiar friend. It sticks closely to the design language of its predecessor, but in a world where smartphone manufacturers are obsessed with increasingly massive camera ‘islands,’ RedMagic’s commitment to a completely flush, flat back is a breath of fresh air. There are no bumps, no wobbles on the table—just a sleek, industrial slab of high-end craftsmanship.

What’s in the Box?

We’ve been spending time with the ‘Nightfreeze’ (black) edition, which looks stealthy and sophisticated. If you prefer something brighter, there’s also a silver ‘Subzero’ variant. You can pick it up in two configurations: a solid 12/256GB or the beefier 16/512GB model. Unlike many modern flagships that ship in an empty box, RedMagic actually includes the essentials: an 80W power brick, a USB-C cable, and a soft-touch case that feels much more premium than your standard clear silicone fare.

Global Specs: Finding the Sweet Spot

The global launch of the RedMagic 11S Pro simplifies things compared to the Chinese market. While China gets both a Pro and a Pro+ model with varying battery and charging speeds, the international version settles on a very respectable middle ground. You’re looking at a massive 7,500mAh battery paired with 80W wired charging. It’s a powerhouse designed to keep you in the game for hours without hunting for an outlet.

Performance and Thermal Mastery

This wouldn’t be a gaming phone without some serious bells and whistles. The 11S Pro is packed with the RedCore R4 gaming chip and a sophisticated cooling system to keep that Snapdragon processor from throttling. You get the iconic active cooling fan with customizable RGB lighting and haptic shoulder triggers that feel incredibly responsive during high-intensity matches.

RedMagic talks a lot about their ‘AquaCore’ liquid cooling system. While it’s a fascinating bit of engineering, it’s worth noting that it’s not quite a desktop-grade water loop. In reality, the heavy lifting is still done by the massive internal vapor chamber and that physical spinning fan. That said, the visual of the liquid cooling is a fantastic aesthetic touch that really leans into the gaming DNA.

The ‘Invisible’ Camera Experience

One of the coolest features—literally—is the under-display selfie camera. Because it’s tucked beneath the screen pixels, you get a true full-screen experience without a notch or a punch-hole getting in the way of your HUD. It’s nearly impossible to see during normal use. While the photo quality remains more functional than professional-grade, the immersion it provides for gaming and media consumption is second to none.

Ergonomics and Feel

Make no mistake: the RedMagic 11S Pro is a ‘chonky’ phone. With a 9mm thickness and a flat-edged frame, it feels substantial and boxy in the hand. The matte finish on the frame is great for grip and resists smudges, though the glass back is still a bit of a fingerprint magnet. If you’re a fan of phones that feel like precision-engineered tools rather than delicate jewelry, this design will speak to you. It’s a specialized device that knows exactly what it wants to be: the ultimate portable gaming rig.
