Google Gemini app gets a makeover
Google’s Gemini App for iOS Just Got a Stylish New Makeover
If you’ve opened the Google Gemini app on your iPhone lately and noticed things look a little different, you aren’t imagining it. Google has started rolling out a fresh UI update for iOS users, aiming to make the AI assistant feel more intuitive and visually polished on Apple hardware.
A Slicker, More Modern Look
The first thing you’ll notice is the atmosphere. Instead of a static, sterile interface, the new start screen features a subtle animated background that gives the app a bit of life. There’s also a new backdrop behind the main search text box, making the interface feel more layered and modern. Google is leaning into what some are calling ‘Liquid Glass’ design—using semi-transparent elements and smooth gradients that blend seamlessly with the iOS aesthetic.
More Than Just a Pretty Face
While the visuals are a nice touch, the real utility comes from the revamped plus (+) button. Tapping it now reveals a significantly expanded menu of options, making it much faster to interact with Gemini in different ways. It’s no longer just about typing a prompt; you can now quickly access:
- Camera input for visual search and analysis
- Music and Canvas integration
- Deep Research and Guided Learning modes
- NotebookLM resources and file uploads
By bringing these tools front and center, Google is turning Gemini into a much more capable productivity hub rather than just a simple chatbot.
When Is It Coming to Android?
Right now, the rollout is hitting a selection of iOS users first, as spotted by members of the Gemini community on Reddit. If you don’t see the update yet, hang tight—it’s likely reaching more devices over the next few days. As for the Android crowd? You’re definitely on the roadmap. While Google hasn’t shared a specific date for the Android version of this makeover, it’s expected to follow shortly once the iOS version is fully deployed.
