Oppo Enco Air5 unboxing and ears-on
First Impressions: Getting Hands-On with the Oppo Enco Air5
We’ve just received the latest audio lineup from Oppo in the office—the Enco Air5 and Air5s—and we couldn’t wait to dive into the unboxing. Let’s start with the standard Air5. Positioned as a strong contender in the in-ear market, these buds offer active noise cancellation (ANC) and sit just beneath the Pro model in terms of hierarchy. Interestingly, both the Air5 and the Pro version share the same 12mm dynamic drivers and triple-microphone setup, promising a similar sonic foundation.
Out of the box, the Enco Air5 comes in two classic finishes: Glossy White or Midnight Black. Oppo includes three different sizes of silicone eartips to ensure you can find that perfect, snug fit.

The Tech Specs: What’s Under the Hood?
If you put the spec sheets for the new Enco Air5 and the outgoing Enco Air5 Pro side-by-side, you’d be hard-pressed to spot the differences. The main distinction we’ve noticed so far is the lack of LHDC 5.0 support on the base model. Furthermore, while the Pro version allows for intuitive volume control via touch-sensitive slides on the stem, the standard Air5 relies strictly on tap gestures for play/pause and ANC toggling. It is a bit curious, especially since the open-ear Air5s retains that slide-to-adjust feature.
Despite the slight feature gap, the internal hardware remains impressive:
- Drivers: Powerful 12mm dynamic drivers.
- Battery Life: A massive 54 hours of total playback when paired with the 530mAh case.
- ANC Power: Rated at 53dB of noise cancellation.

Comfort and Performance
In practice, the Enco Air5 feels great in the ear. While in-ear designs are a matter of personal preference, these are genuinely comfortable for long listening sessions. That said, I really do miss the slide-to-adjust volume gesture. Once you get used to sliding your finger along the stem to tweak your audio levels, it’s tough to go back to simple taps.
When it comes to sound, the Air5 delivers clear, crisp trebles and well-defined mids. If you’re looking for a heavy “thump,” you might find them a bit light out of the box, but the overall clarity is undeniable. On the noise cancellation front, the performance is solid, successfully muting the background hum of a busy office.

Comfortable fit meets intuitive tap controls.
