Meet the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G: A Polished Refresh for the Mid-Range

Samsung has pulled the curtain back on the Galaxy A27 5G, and if you were expecting a massive overhaul, you might want to adjust your expectations. This is very much a refinement of the Galaxy A26, focusing on design tweaks and a modest performance bump rather than reinventing the wheel.

Refined Looks, Same Great Screen

At a glance, the display specs look familiar—a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with a snappy 120Hz refresh rate. The real glow-up happens in the design department. Samsung has officially ditched the dated teardrop notch in favor of a sleek punch-hole cutout, which they’ve dubbed the ‘Infinity-O’ display. Coupled with slimmer bezels, it definitely offers a more modern, premium feel in the hand.

Under the Hood: A Bit More Pep

The most meaningful change lies inside. By swapping out the 5nm Exynos 1380 for the 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, Samsung is aiming for better efficiency and snappier performance. While a 10-20% speed increase isn’t exactly groundbreaking, it should make daily multitasking and navigation feel noticeably smoother.

A Mixed Bag of Specs

Here’s how the rest of the package shapes up:

  • Battery: A reliable 5,000mAh cell paired with 25W charging, keeping things steady as before.
  • Cameras: You’re looking at a 50MP main shooter with OIS, accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro lens. The front camera gets a boost to 12MP.
  • Durability: Interestingly, the phone now carries an IP64 rating for splash protection. It’s worth noting that this is a step down from the IP67 rating found on the A26, so you’ll want to keep it away from deep water.

On the software front, Samsung is staying true to its commitment to longevity, promising six Android OS updates and six years of security support.

Pricing and Availability

The Galaxy A27 hits shelves on July 3 in Europe, starting at €350, with four color options: Black, Blue, Light Green, and Light Pink. US buyers can look forward to a July 14 launch with a competitive $350 price tag. You’ll be able to choose from 6/128GB, 8/128GB, and 8/256GB configurations to suit your storage needs.
