iOS 27 Beta 2 Arrives: What’s New Under the Hood?

Apple’s latest update for iOS 27 beta 2 is rolling out to developers, and while we are still waiting for the final stable version, this preview gives us a sneak peek at some refined features. If you are tinkering with the beta, you might notice things are starting to feel a bit more polished.

Meet “Write with Siri”

The standout change here is the introduction of Write with Siri. This feature is set to replace the standalone Writing Tools we saw earlier. You will find a handy shortcut right on your keyboard, making it easier than ever to draft text, proofread on the fly, or completely rewrite your notes. Because it is deeply integrated with Siri, it can pull context from your emails, messages, and documents, offering a much more personalized writing assistant experience.

Better Messaging with RCS

Apple is continuing to improve how we communicate across platforms. With beta 2, RCS support has received a significant boost. You can now expect much better handling of inline replies, and finally, tapback reactions from Android users are showing up exactly as they should. It is a small change that goes a long way toward making cross-platform chats feel seamless.

Wallet Updates and Bug Fixes

Apple Wallet is getting more useful for tracking your finances. The Spending Insights screen, which offers a clear look at your daily, monthly, or yearly expenses, is now expanding to more regions. It is a great way to keep tabs on your budget without needing a third-party app.

Of course, this being a beta, it is all about fixing the kinks. Apple has resolved an issue that prevented firmware updates for the AirPods Max 2, and the Apple Home app now supports remote updates for the Apple TV 4K again.

A quick heads-up: Since these developer betas are still in the testing phase, they are not quite ready for your daily driver. We expect a stable version to hit the public in September, likely alongside the launch of the new iPhone 18 Pro lineup.
