iOS 27 announced, Galaxy S27 leaks, Week 24 in review

Tech Recap: Apple’s AI Overhaul, Samsung’s Next Flagship, and the Rise of the Mega-Battery

It has been an absolute whirlwind of a week in the tech world. Between Apple’s major software reveals and a series of hardware leaks that give us a glimpse into the future of smartphones, there is a lot to unpack. From smarter assistants to batteries that just won’t quit, here is everything you need to know from the past few days.

Apple Intelligence Takes Center Stage

Apple didn’t hold back at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The headline act was undoubtedly the massive overhaul of Siri and the introduction of Apple Intelligence. Coming to iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, this new AI-driven ecosystem is designed to be deeply integrated into the apps you use every day.

In a move that surprised some, Apple is partnering with Google to utilize Gemini models for certain tasks, while keeping privacy front and center through their new Private Cloud Compute. If you’re a developer, you can dive into the beta today; otherwise, expect a public beta to land sometime next month.

Samsung’s Future: S27 and S26 FE Leaks

Even though we’re still living in the present, Samsung is already looking years ahead. The Galaxy S27 (model SM-S952) officially appeared in the IMEI database this week. While we don’t have a full spec sheet yet, its presence confirms that development is well underway.

Closer to home, we got our first real look at the Galaxy S26 FE via online certification listings. Unsurprisingly, it shares a design language very similar to the standard S26. On the software side, Samsung has already started testing One UI 9 on the Galaxy A17, A34, and A57, hinting that the next generation of folding phones will be the first to ship with the new software.

The Folding iPhone “Ultra”

Rumors of a foldable iPhone have been circulating for years, but recent dummy unit images of the iPhone Ultra have added significant fuel to the fire. These units suggest a sleek, high-end folding design that might launch alongside the iPhone 18 series later this year. Current whispers suggest it may initially launch in a single, exclusive colorway.

China’s Battery Revolution: Xiaomi and OnePlus

If you’re tired of charging your phone every night, the latest releases in China might make you a bit jealous. Xiaomi debuted its 17T series, with the standard model sporting a massive 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery.

OnePlus went even further with the announcement of the Turbo 6X Pro. This beast features:

  • A staggering 8,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging.
  • A 6.78-inch M14 AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
  • The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Super chipset.
  • A starting price around $295 (€255) for the base model.

Google Makes AI More Accessible

Not to be left out of the AI conversation, Google has significantly lowered the barrier to entry for its premium features. The Google AI Plus plan has seen a price cut from $8 down to just $5 per month. To sweeten the deal, they’ve also doubled the included cloud storage from 200GB to 400GB, making it a much more competitive option for power users.
