Google seeds Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 with several bug fixes

Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 Hits Pixels: Stability and Refinement

Google is keeping the momentum going with the rollout of Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 for eligible Pixel devices. This latest build arrives roughly three weeks after Beta 3, keeping us on track following the recent excitement of The Android Show: I/O Edition 2026.

The rollout is currently making its way to supported Pixel handsets, starting with the Pixel 6a. However, there is a notable omission this time around: the original Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are missing from the release list and haven’t received the new build yet. It’s a bit of a surprise for those still rocking the 2021 flagships, but for everyone else, the update is ready for download.

Specific Builds for Specific Devices

Depending on which Pixel you’re carrying, you’ll see a slightly different firmware version. If you are using a Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, or Pixel 7 Pro, look for build CP31.260522.006.A1. For all other eligible devices in the Pixel lineup, the update will show as build CP31.260522.006.

What’s Fixed in This Update?

While we are getting closer to the final release, Google is focused on squashing the remaining bugs to ensure a smooth user experience. This update isn’t just about under-the-hood tweaks; it addresses some real-world annoyances that testers have been reporting:

  • External Display Support: Fixed a frustrating bug that caused the mouse pointer to vanish when the phone was connected to an external screen.
  • Silent Mode Integrity: Resolved an issue where the screenshot shutter sound would trigger even if the device was set to silent.
  • Video Performance: Improved the camera experience by fixing frame drops and jittery footage when recording at 5x zoom while panning.

With Beta 4 now in the wild, the finish line is in sight. Google is expected to push the stable version of Android 17 very soon, bringing these refinements to the general public. If you’re already on the beta track, keep an eye on your system updates—it should be landing on your device any moment now.
