Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Massive Battery Upgrade Confirmed in New Leak

Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: A Massive Battery Boost Is on the Way

If you’ve been waiting for a smartwatch that can truly go the distance, Samsung might have something special in the works. While recent certifications suggests we won’t see a jump in charging speeds this year, a new leak indicates that the upcoming Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is getting a significant hardware upgrade where it counts most: battery capacity.

The Big News: A Powerhouse Battery for the Ultra 2

According to the latest reports from SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is set to feature a battery with a rated capacity of 784 mAh. In marketing terms, this will likely be advertised as a typical capacity of 800 mAh. To put that into perspective, the current Galaxy Watch Ultra houses a 590 mAh unit. We are looking at a substantial jump in size that could lead to class-leading endurance for power users and outdoor enthusiasts.

What About the Galaxy Watch9?

The standard Galaxy Watch9 series is also seeing some internal shifts. The 40mm model is rumored to receive a modest but welcome bump to a 382 mAh rated capacity (likely marketed as 400 mAh), up from the 325 mAh found in the previous generation. Interestingly, the 44mm variant is expected to stick with the 435 mAh battery used in the current lineup, suggesting Samsung is focusing its efficiency gains on the smaller and ultra-premium models this time around.

Charging Speeds and Launch Timeline

While the battery sizes are growing, the charging tech seems to be staying put. Recent 3C certifications confirm that both the Watch9 and the Watch Ultra 2 will support 10W charging. It’s consistent, if a bit safe, especially considering how much larger those batteries are getting.

We won’t have to wait much longer to see these devices in the flesh. Samsung is expected to pull the curtain back on the Galaxy Watch9, the Watch9 Classic, and the Ultra 2 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8 and Z Fold8 series at a rumored Unpacked event on July 22. If these battery specs hold true, the Ultra 2 might just become the new king of wearable longevity.
