Samsung releases One UI 8.5 stable update for four more Galaxy smartphones

Samsung Expands One UI 8.5: Galaxy Z Fold5, Flip5, and A-Series Start Receiving the Stable Build

Samsung is moving fast. Just a few weeks after the initial stable rollout of One UI 8.5 began, four more devices are joining the lineup. If you’re rocking a Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy A36, or Galaxy A56, your software experience is about to get a whole lot smoother.

The Mid-Range Gets a Boost: Galaxy A36 and A56

The update is currently making its debut in South Korea. For Galaxy A36 users, keep an eye out for firmware version A366NKSU6CZDA. While the specific firmware string for the Galaxy A56 hasn’t been logged yet, the rollout is officially underway for that model as well. It’s great to see Samsung keeping its A-series devices so close to the front of the line for major software refreshes.

Foldables Join the Party

It’s not just the mid-range getting some love. Samsung’s 2023 foldable flagships—the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5—are also starting to receive the stable One UI 8.5 update. While the firmware versions for these two are still being confirmed, users in South Korea are reporting that the update is live and ready for download.

How to Check for the Update

Right now, the rollout is focused on South Korean units, but if history is any indication, it shouldn’t be long before this hits other regions globally. If you haven’t seen a notification pop up on your screen yet, you can check for it manually by following these steps:

  • Open your phone’s Settings
  • Scroll down to Software update
  • Tap Download and install

As with any major update, it’s a smart move to make sure your data is backed up and you’re connected to a stable Wi-Fi network before you start the download. Keep an eye on your device over the coming days as Samsung continues to flip the switch for more users worldwide.
